What students do
Four weeks, July 2027. Machine learning from the ground up, in MIT's materials, with a project at the end. Students are paid $16 an hour.
Who teaches
Two MIT instructors. Engineers from Wyoming companies as guests.
Where it runs
LCCC, Cheyenne. In 2027 we want it shared into district high schools over the state's distance network so a student in Chugwater or Torrington takes it without leaving town.
What comes next
Math to Machine Learning, then the AI Lab, then a college seat.
What $59,000 buys
| Student stipends, 20 seats. $16 an hour, four weeks, $1,216 each | $24,320 |
| Two MIT instructors, $10,000 each | $20,000 |
| Location, materials, travel | $10,000 |
| Meals, books and the rest. MIT pays its own materials | $4,680 |
| Total, one cohort | $59,000 |

Honest notes
The 2026 cohort enrolled 8 of a planned 20. The fix is course-sharing into district high schools, one MIT-trained teacher per college region. Gifts go through HCB, a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor. Plain Simple Technology is a Wyoming company, not a charity. If the HCB campaign comes up short, the cohort runs smaller, not later.
